~~~ PUG ~~~
Alex ‘Pug’ Williams is n multidisciplinary artist from Djillang/Geelong, currently living and working in Naarm/Melbourne, in so-called ‘Australia’.
“My creative practice is a way of being that extends into all aspects of my life. Through fervent curiosity, risk taking, experimentation and failure I work across disciplines, territories and borders. Syncretically synthesising my experiences of research, travel and creation has created a rich bedrock that I draw nutrients from, with the intention of sharing and translating what I see/hear/feel in order to enrich the experience of life and contribute to a shared future.
I navigate through this practice through the often fraught position of White settler-artist living on stolen Aboriginal land. I seek to humbly attune myself with Country, listening to and amplifying First Nations perspectives
“I Investigate the world and hold curiosity and openness in my mind.’
I respectfully acknowledge the Wathaurong Clans as the sovereign people of the land I was born on, and the Wurundjeri Woi Wurrung language group as the sovereign people of the lands I live and work on. These lands have never been ceded. Treaty NOW.
