I am an ‘Australian’ trans-national artist, previously based in Dublin and currently based in Naarm/Melbourne.
The Manifesto of Rural Futurism is a 2019, 10 point manifesto by Beatrice Ferrara and Leandro Pisano. I initially began researching this text in preparation for Liminaria, a micro-residency I completed in San Martino Valle Caudina, southern Italy, July 8 - July 14. I have continued this research as part of the Douglas Hyde Student forum, and in the practice that followed.
I brought the Manifesto of Rural Futurism to the Forum in May, 2024 as a reading to explore together as part of our programming. Together, Fernando Sánchez-Migallón Cano — and the forum overstayed our welcome in a Trinity College lecture room creating a series of drawings and writings in response to the Manifesto.
worlding in trans-national rural futurism sonically and visually depicts my version of worlding (connecting-listening-releasing) during a period of travel between Ireland, Italy, Turkiyë, Vietnam and Australia. Using drone music, field recordings, sound sculpture activations, journaling and surrealist poetry techniques, worlding in Rural Futurism orates a perspective gathered from openness, deep listening and critical reflection.
